Online Dermatology Consultation
Consult Dr. Samira Siddiqui (MBBS, DNB Dermatology) without travelling to the clinic. Share photos of your skin or scalp on WhatsApp, speak with her directly, and get a prescription and treatment plan. Available to patients anywhere in India.
The consultation fee is confirmed on WhatsApp before anything is scheduled.
What works well online, and what does not
An online consultation is genuinely useful for a lot of dermatology, but not for everything. Being clear about the difference saves you a wasted appointment.
Suited to an online consult
- Acne, acne marks and oily skin
- Hair fall, thinning and dandruff
- Pigmentation, melasma and dull skin
- Dry, sensitive or itchy skin
- Reviewing blood reports and investigations
- Fixing a skincare routine that is not working
- A second opinion on an existing prescription
- Follow-ups on treatment already started
Needs a clinic visit
- Procedures such as peels, lasers or PRP
- Biopsies, injections and minor surgery
- A mole that is changing in size, shape or colour
- Severe, painful or rapidly spreading rashes
- Anything that needs the skin to be examined by touch
If your case falls here, Dr. Samira will say so rather than proceed with an online consultation.
How it works
- 1
Message on WhatsApp
Send a short description of your concern, how long you have had it, and what you have already tried.
- 2
Share photos and reports
Clear daylight photos of the affected area, plus any previous prescriptions, products or blood reports.
- 3
She reviews and confirms
Dr. Samira checks whether your case suits an online consultation, then confirms the fee, the format and a time. Video or voice is decided based on what your condition needs.
- 4
Your consultation
You speak with Dr. Samira directly at the confirmed time and discuss your diagnosis and options.
- 5
Prescription and plan
You receive a prescription where appropriate, a treatment plan in writing, and clear guidance on when to follow up.
How to photograph your skin
The quality of an online consultation depends almost entirely on the photographs. A few minutes spent here makes a real difference to what Dr. Samira can tell you.
- Shoot in daylight, standing near a window. Avoid yellow indoor bulbs and camera flash.
- Turn off filters, beauty mode and skin smoothing completely.
- Take one photo from about an arm's length away and one close-up of the affected area.
- Include two or three angles, since texture and marks read differently in different light.
- Photograph the labels of every product you are currently applying.
- Add photos of earlier prescriptions and any blood reports you have.
Teleconsultation terms
Online consultations are provided by Dr. Samira Siddiqui (MBBS, DNB Dermatology), registered with the Maharashtra Medical Council under registration number 2022/09/7880, and are conducted in line with India's Telemedicine Practice Guidelines, 2020.
By starting a consultation on WhatsApp you consent to a remote consultation and to sharing the photos, history and reports needed to assess your condition. You can withdraw that consent and stop the consultation at any point. A record of the consultation and any prescription issued is retained as required.
Prescriptions issued remotely are limited to the categories of medicine that teleconsultation permits. Some medicines cannot be prescribed without an in-person examination, and some only at a follow-up rather than a first consultation. A remote consultation cannot replace a physical examination where one is clinically necessary, and you may be asked to visit a clinic.
This service is not for emergencies. If you have a severe allergic reaction, a rapidly spreading rash with fever, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or throat, go to your nearest hospital emergency department immediately rather than waiting for a reply on WhatsApp. See the medical disclaimer and privacy policy for full details.
Common questions
Can a dermatologist actually treat skin problems online?
For a large number of skin and hair concerns, yes. Conditions like acne, hair fall, dandruff, pigmentation and eczema can usually be assessed from clear photographs combined with a detailed history. Dr. Samira will tell you honestly if your case needs a physical examination instead.
What does an online consultation cost?
The fee is confirmed when Dr. Samira reviews your case on WhatsApp, before any consultation is scheduled. It depends on whether this is a first consultation or a follow-up. You will always know the amount before you pay anything.
Can Dr. Samira prescribe medicines after an online consultation?
Yes. Prescriptions issued after a teleconsultation are valid under India's Telemedicine Practice Guidelines, 2020. Certain categories of medicine cannot be prescribed remotely, and some can only be prescribed at a follow-up rather than a first consultation. If your condition needs a medicine outside what teleconsultation permits, she will tell you and advise an in-person visit.
Which concerns are best suited to an online consultation?
Acne and acne marks, hair fall and thinning, dandruff and scalp itching, pigmentation and melasma, dry or sensitive skin, reviewing blood reports, correcting a skincare routine, second opinions on an existing prescription, and follow-ups on a treatment already started with her.
When will I need to visit the clinic instead?
Anything that needs a procedure or a physical examination. That includes chemical peels, lasers, PRP, biopsies, minor surgery, injections, examination of a changing or suspicious mole, and any severe, rapidly spreading or painful condition. Some diagnoses simply cannot be confirmed from a photograph.
How do I share photos of my skin?
Send them on WhatsApp before your consultation. Take them in daylight near a window, with no filters or beauty mode, from two or three angles including one close-up. Also photograph any products you are currently using and any earlier prescriptions or reports.
Is an online consultation available outside Mumbai?
Yes. Dr. Samira's clinics are in Mumbai, but online consultations are available to patients anywhere in India.
Ready to start?
