Most people arrive knowing the symptom, not the diagnosis. Find what you have noticed below and it will point you to the right page. None of this replaces an examination, but it will tell you where to start reading.

Clinical Dermatology
Medical dermatology treats conditions of the skin, hair and nails: acne, hair loss, eczema, psoriasis, pigmentation, fungal and bacterial infections, and allergic reactions. These are diagnosed by examination and, where relevant, blood work or a scraping, and treated with prescription medicine alongside procedures. Most need a course of treatment measured in months rather than a single visit, and most improve substantially once the correct cause is identified.
Chemical peels, laser therapy, and topical treatments for clear skin.
PRP therapy, hair transplant, and advanced restoration techniques.
Melasma, hyperpigmentation, and vitiligo treatment.
Fungal and bacterial infections with proven treatment protocols.
Aesthetic Procedures
Aesthetic dermatology addresses appearance rather than disease: skin texture and firmness, unwanted hair, fine lines, and dullness. These are elective procedures, done in sessions, and on Indian skin the choice of device and setting matters more than the brand name on the machine. Conservative settings across several sessions produce better results here than aggressive single treatments, because darker skin responds to over-treatment with pigmentation. Anything active, such as ongoing acne or an infection, is treated first.
Radiofrequency and laser technology for firmer, younger-looking skin.
Permanent hair reduction with advanced laser technology.
Botox, fillers, and skin rejuvenation procedures.
Advanced peels for skin renewal and texture improvement.
Before your first visit
Bring what you have been using. Every cream, tablet, oil and supplement, ideally the actual packs rather than a list. A large share of skin problems are caused or worsened by something already in the bathroom cabinet, and steroid creams bought over the counter are the most common culprit.
Bring earlier prescriptions and reports. Knowing what has already been tried, at what strength and for how long, prevents repeating a treatment that did not work and saves months.
Come without makeup where possible. For acne, pigmentation or a rash, the skin needs to be seen as it is.
Expect a course, not a cure in one visit. Skin and hair respond over weeks. Most plans include a review appointment, because the second visit is where treatment gets adjusted based on how you actually responded.
Not in Mumbai?
Acne, hair loss, pigmentation, dandruff and routine follow-ups can usually be assessed from clear photographs and a proper history. Anything needing a procedure, a biopsy or a physical examination cannot. See how an online consultation works.
Dr. Samira consults at three locations across Kurla East, Kurla West and Govandi West on different days. Check addresses and timings before travelling.
